10 things that Korea does best
From its
geographical location and northern neighbor, to some high-tech gadgets, South
Korea is known for many things-- but what is it that makes the country really
stand out?
Topping the CNN list is Korea's internet connection.
Not only is Korea one of the world's most wired countries, according to the report more than 78-percent of the entire population has a smartphone.
Coming second on the list is Koreans' use of plastic or credit cards.
Using data from the Bank of Korea the report mentions that Koreans became the world's top users of credit cards two years ago. The report notes it probably helps that it's technically illegal for merchants to refuse payments by credit cards no matter how low the price.
What else does Korea do best?
Well, Koreans work a lot, and "workaholics" comes in at number three. Data from 2012 shows Koreans work much more than the OECD average with Korea's almost 45 hours a week easily topping the OECD average of around 33 hours. The report mentions buildings with lights turned on into the late hours as workers "slave away."
Also included on the list is Korea's "business boozing" culture, cosmetics, female golfers, Starcraft gamers, flight attendants, blind dates, and plastic surgery.
